School governing bodies fulfil three core strategic functions:
1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of the staff.
3. Overseeing the financial management of the school, ensuring it is money well spent.
The Governing Body of Holmer Green First School and Pre-School has 13 positions (please see the membership grid). The Chair of Governors is Mr David Eteen and the Vice Chair is Mr Daniel Mason.
As well as holding full governing body meetings, the governing body is structured through committees to address specific areas of focus: Curriculum Challenge, Premises, Health & Safety, Finance & Personnel, Performance Management and Pay Review. Governors may also be required to sit on grievance, complaints or disciplinary panels. Minutes from the full Governing Body meetings can be found in the school office.
Governors can be contacted via the school office - office@holmergreenfirst.bucks.sch.uk.
The governors believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.
The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender, and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.
Due to our relatively small governing board, we will not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.
